The Chehalem Mountains AVA is an American Viticultural Area that is located the Clackamas, Yamhill and Washington counties of Northwest Oregon. This AVA is entirely contained in the much larger AVA known as Willamette Valley AVA. This small AVA stretches approximately 20 miles from Wilsonville in the southeast to Forest Grove in the northwest. The Chehalem Mountains includes Ribbon Ridge, Parrett Mountain and Bald Peak. The petition process for creating the AVA began in 2001 and it officially became an AVA in 2006. There are approximately 1,600 acres planted in vineyards and there are approximately 31 wineries located in this region. The grapes produced in this region are typically Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Riesling.
